Strengthen the Bond to Boost Sales – Wednesday March 22nd, Noon to 2pm (online)
No pressure, but YOU are the key selling point for your customers! Only at a farmers market can shoppers get “face time” with multiple farmers – and get to know who grows their food. With practical strategies and sales secrets, you can build up that farmer-consumer bond and your bottom line.
Growing Vegetables in a High Tunnel – Saturday March 25th, 9am-2pm (Shared Roots Farm)
Calling all Veterans: Are you interested in learning how to grow vegetables in high tunnels? Join us at this one day intensive workshop at a farm to learn from experts at Cornell Cooperative Extension about successful growing in a high tunnel, marketing and then we’ll hear tour the high tunnels and hear from the farmers about how they operate their CSA and sell at farmers markets. Veterans get priority for spots, civilians can still attend if spots exist. Travel stipends available. Only $25 includes all education, handouts and lunch.

Grafting Workshop – Tuesday March 28th 6-8pm (Montour Falls)
Learn the history of grafting in this workshop provided by CCE-Schuyler County. See a hands-on grafting demonstration, learn how to make your own grafts, and take home two grafted trees! There will be many varieties to choose from, or you can choose to bring your own scion wood. The guest speaker will be John Reynolds of Daring Drake Farm. Register here
New York State Livestock Summit – Thursday March 30th, 1-4pm (CCE Cortland)
We welcome all scales of livestock producers and all industry supporters to share your thoughts on what is needed to grow and strengthen the livestock industry in NY.
First Annual Lawn & Garden Show – Sunday April 9th, 10am-4pm (Broome County Regional Farmers Market)
Join us at the Farmers Market for our First Annual Lawn & Garden Show. Featuring the latest trends in lawn, garden, & landscaping, and do-it-yourself seminars. Admission is $3.00 per person and can be paid at the door. Ages 17 and under free. Descriptions and registration for seminars can be found at the link above. Those registered for seminars will receive free admission to the vendor show.
Learn to Raise Sheep & Pigs – Saturday April 22nd, 9am-2pm (McRey Farm)
Calling all Veterans: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County will be hosting a workshop on learning the fundamentals of raising small livestock such as pigs and sheep. This workshop will be a fast paced all-inclusive presentation. Topics that will be covered include: breeds best suited for our climate, systems for raising and finishing the animals, and marketing. The afternoon will feature an on-farm hands-on component including a tour of the farm and discussion of their wholesale and farmers market operation. Priority for spots will be given to veterans in the Southern Tier, but others are welcome to attend as space permits. The cost to attend this workshop is $25, which includes all presenter materials and lunch. Travel stipends are available for veterans traveling further than one hour.
